Just got in (literally) from the dentist and errands. My dentist is near my favorite thrift so I will be forced - the agony - to go to my favorite thrift every month or so now.

No time for pics today, but I found this beauty today. Not my listing, for reference only. I paid $4.00:

found 5 of these at the GW for under $2 per. ... I think they may be Georgian rummers ... 5" tall, cut pattern, beautiful loud ring

Here's a BOLO for you all - 1996 Lenox snowflake... (I found this in the 50¢ ornament bin at the thrift) I was stunned to see what ones from this year (first year of issue) go for ... even without their original box!

I don't know. How do you define 'second hand shop'?
This particular thrift is about 40% donated goods and 60% consigned goods. Mostly used stuff, but some 'new in box' items too.

The donated items are where I find the "good stuff". It's in a very nice area and the staff seems to be unfamiliar with most antiques (other than furniture, where I *think* they have a dealer help them) and old jewelry ... especially foreign hallmarks ... and small hallmarks ... and poorly stamped hallmarks ...

 

Right here In England don't think we have anything similar to that .

That's why I asked but you lot do seem to get some good finds out of them .

And good prices to .

A second hand Shop in England can be described has some one who buys old used furniture and resales it.

My wife is fond of Whitby jet as well.

 

Yea don't know why there is something very attractive about it in my opinion not sure if it the quality of carvings in some of its jewellery like cameo brooches or just is shine when polished .

And do you know what I not got one piece of it but guess it be strange a man having jewellery around lol .

Thank you. I'm pretty sure the black cab is a banded agate/onyx ... black on top, thin white layer, another black layer ... and then visible from the back (shown in jewelry thread) is a brownish layer. And I agree .... I like carved jet jewelry too ... but haven't come across any .... yet.

Some of the unmarked turned out to be solid gold.

It appears that the best sellers are the tiniest.

These are 10 or 14 K. I hadn't seen this type clasp before (and it didn't turn out in these pics).

These unmarked broken bits are worth more than what I paid for it all.

I have a pair of those tiny pins, similar to the ones in your lot, Terry. They were my grandmother's (monogrammed, so that's why I know.) I gather they were intended for securing "lingerie" straps together, back when every decently dressed woman had several layers of such underneath the garments meant for public view.

That doll's house was THEFT! Congrats! The furniture is worth more than that if you part it out.
@Terry are those white beads bone or meerschaum? They look like bone. The little lingerie pins do tend to sell handily. They were only made for a certain period of time and women tend to love them. Besides, you can fit a whacking big collection of them in a very small space.
