Besides, I live by this Karma thing.... in order for me to be able to find treasure, I have to give back. I give some treasures as gifts (I was going through my bling finds today, I forget what I have.) I set things aside throughout the year, especially sterling and pearl jewelry because I have co-workers who love it. I also have a co-worker who loves all things poodle-related, so I set them aside. I give them for birthday, anniversary, and Christmas gifts. I also donate anything I can't use, the leather coat will go to a thrift shop or our rescue mission. I put things out at the curb in nicer weather for people to pick up.....my favorite thrift shop I donate to uses the profits to fund the county food bank.

 

And at Christmas time, since I have become somewhat of a minimalist and don't need a lot of things anymore, I buy toys, clothing, etc., for kids who need these things. My husband and I don't buy for one another anymore. It is better to give than receive.

 

And the coat looked like it was never worn from the looks of the interior lining.

 

In the words of Charlie Brown, argggh! Maybe someone else isn't allergic to dogs. I tend to give away a lot more than I get this time of year. Actually, all year.... One local thrift connected to the UConn Medical Center gets a bag from me almost weekly. It's the tariff I pay for allowing myself to go out thrifting for the week. They like seeing me coming! Friends and friends' kids also make out like bandits from my forays.

Nice to have the original postage tag! And it appears better made than many I have or have seen.

there used to be a time when you could put a stamp on darn near anything and mail it...

 

Same with writing a check. You could write it on an old boot if you wanted.

 

Hi,
I have several 2 dollar bills with stamps dating July 04 1976 that were sent.
We sent four eggs to an Aunt every week that lived in a neighboring state. This was back in the 1940s.

I just got these things:
The Miller American Racing button is surely for the hydroplane.
I love the cabin. It will only take pennies, nickels and dimes.
Not sure why it has two windows and they are round. Easier than square I suppose.

I don't live by it but a couple of times a year I get a flea market stand for a week and sell off all the discarded or otherwise unwanted pieces that I've bought in the past year or otherwise still have. I price it all ridiculously low so that I rarely have to bring anything back and people are happy when they find cheap stuff. It's a win win because I'm not expecting to make a profit with those items, so I treat it as a fun way of getting rid of "garbage".

Marko - I'm such a karma believer as well. This year was my last doing the local flea market due to health reasons and so I could focus more on online stuff and prepare for our move. We sold a full vintage bedroom set (I thought of a few folks here) for $50.00 and at the end of the day, I donated EVERYTHING to GW - 5 years worth of collecting for the market. All done. I always feel very fortunate with what I find and tell my spouse it is partly karma.

I stopped at the little thrift on our way out of Savannah and I can tell it would be my favorite one there, just like I have mine here (I visit it tomorrow by chance!). I know we all do. I became fast friends with the sweet ladies who volunteer and it is chock full of vintage and antique stuff. Some too high, others priced low. But they have nice 50% off sales.

I got two different Spode Christmas Tree vases, some misc. pottery items and what seems to be an actual noted artist find (vintage watercolor). Found it on the floor behind everything else. Will share once I confirm this coming year, but it matches online signatures. In the original vintage frame, regardless of whether it is not, it was a find for $7.00.
