WOW! I've been there once but it was a few hours only and no time for thrifting. :(
I will do my best on the cookie requirement. :)

FunkeysFinds - The Junior League here in Columbia does their sale in February & I really look forward to it every year. I pay the $35.00 admission price to get in on Friday night & pay twice the posted price, but have never regretted the extra expense. I have found some wonderful items & have always made a very handsome profit. :D:D:D:smuggrin::smuggrin::smuggrin:

I may have to see if I can get down Savannah way next year since it is only a few hours down the road. ;):smug::smug:

Congrats on your finds & good luck in your relocation hunt.:happy::happy:

My best piece was last year when I found this Lenci Madonna & Child for less than $10.00. I sent it back home to Italy for $405.00.:smuggrin::smuggrin::smuggrin:

This year I got 2 NIB 5 piece place settings of Lenox Holiday Tartan for $20.00 a piece & sold them for $180.00.:smuggrin:

I don't know how the women do it in Savannah, but here in Columbia the members are all expected to donate a certain amount every year. They would have to get other donations I am sure but the bulk I think comes from their members.

I am now getting even more excited about going to it this year in really just a few weeks. :D:D:D:singing::singing::singing:

The JayCees are often well-heeled, so they often have some nice stuff. The group in the town next to mine doesn't have an annual sale; they have a thrift store. I've made a few good scores in there, but they often know what they have a little too well. Today however, I scored a red and yellow marbled bakelite bangle for ... five bucks. That came from a consignment store and I think the owner just wanted it gone.

Stopped into the hotel for a brief few minutes. We are going back out downtown to the historic theater to see 'It's A Wonderful Life' and then to a late dinner.

Peggy - those finds are great! The Lenci piece is quite beautiful. There is a similar sale like this in the Cartersville area where I live, albeit the sale is smaller. I have only been once and it wasn't on the early bird day. If we are still living in that area next year when they have it, I'll try it and see what happens.

    Have a nice evening all.

So great to see on a theater screen!
I was lucky enough to see it a few years running with Zuzu in attendance. :)

The Chicago Symphony is showing the film with subtitles while they play an appropriate accompaniment. Novel approach to a classic, neh?

This morning a neighbor 4 doors down and across the street that I do not know started putting furniture out on the curb for free. I scored this large art deco tall chest with bakelite handles. It is in very good condition other than two handles being broken. I can probably make more selling the handles on ebay than I can selling the whole chest locally. I also picked up a painted music cabinet circa 1910 and a reproduction 48" solid oak pedestal table with leaf. I didn't get these last 2 photographed as they are in another location right now.

I stopped at a thrift today on a whim while traveling and found this carrier with 40 vintage ornaments for $5.00. Mostly from the 60s with a few 70s thrown in. Nothing too great but a steal for the money.

Earlier in the week at one of my regular thrifts, this Christopher Radko Frankenstein monster ornament was a buck.

    stuff1265.jpg

This Tortolani silverplate flower pin was $2.00. The sterling rose pin is marked SCF Denmark. It was a $1.00.

This Pigeon Forge pottery owl signed by Ferguson was 50 cents.

    Nice score! :)
If you wanted to keep that dresser you should be able to find those handles.

    Hi Brad --

You may know this already. You pin was most likely made by S. Chr. Fogh (Copenhagen) 1947 - 1973.

The marks can be found here to compare:

Nice prices on eBay for $1.00. Congrats!

On a side note... I am hitting a small thrift with a good rep on our way home tomorrow. Has limited hours and looks like fun from the pics I've found online. If I find any good treasures, I'll share. I found another thrift here that is literally only open 5 days a month and looks soooo good. Sigh.... would love to hit that one! Another time. Boy, after this third trip, we are even more determined to move here.

Hi Guys, I miss you! Sorry I haven't been around, buried at work and taking care of things for my 90 year-old uncle. I have some bling finds, will photograph some things between Christmas and New Year's to show you.....I will have to try to check in more often to see your great scores. Loving the Christmas ornaments. I couldn't sell my pre-war made in Poland ornaments in original boxes for $5 a box at my yard sale....put them out at the curb, someone did come by and get them. Somebody was happy!

My latest finds were a vintage circa 1940s black cashmere coat (in my size!) that is missing a big honkin' button, so I will replace all the buttons. One slit pocket area needs repair, it is a straight up and down look, unusual for a vintage cashmere coat, $8 at a local thrift. I found another vintage coat for $6 that is going to the consignment shop, will try to photograph and get them up for you within 24 hours. I love vintage coats!

I love them too, but am allergic to animal fibers.(sigh) Two of Saturday's scores - bakelite and rhinestones. No signatures, not that I cared. $15 for the pair. DSCF3454.JPG

Wow .. :( Why not list them on ebay? If not needing to maximize profit and for the least amount of trouble, they could have been listed as a lot with a low start price. I am sure they would have been bid up.

Evelyb, I am very allergic to things that have been in particular environments. I got a great leather coat in a thrift shop, but something in it makes me react to it. I was fine in the store with it on, but not when I was riding home with it in the car. Although I have cats, I sometimes react to dogs.....maybe the person had dogs. I react to something that came from a musty environment right away (highly allergic to mold), it wasn't that. You can pick that up right away on leathers.

    I LOVE the rhinestone piece!!!!
