I have this beautiful carved wooden chair which i am going to restore.

Does anybody know which period this maybe from? Any help appreciated. Many thanks.

Are the legs as short as they look? It could be a nursing chair. For some reason these had short legs. Style looks late 19th C.

I had never thought of that, but now looking at the very short legs it could well be. Thank you

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

The only prayer desks I've seen had kneelers, though...
Oh well, at least you're closer to the ground in a shortie-chair. :)

Nevermind... just Googled it, and I see now how it would work...

Late renaissance revival, transitioning into eastlake. Circa 1880 and made of walnut. What is the seat height? Would like to see a pic of the legs from the front. This doesn't look right from what I can see. There is always the possibility that this has been cut down. Look for saw marks on the bottom of the legs (or provide a pic for us to see).

    Hi,
I agree, looks sawed off. Perhaps from damp rot or made for a kid.

Oh no.. was hoping that wasnt the case. Probably not worthwhile restoring it now then. Will take a trip to the skip :(

I would save the back, just because I like it. And I am, after all, a packrat.
