Featured Maple & Pine Chest of Drawers

    I pulled out the report; saw it was done in 1998. She did a very comprehensive job. Interesting, her report found seventeen layers of paint, with the first ones on the body being five layers of medium yellow, before going to off-white then bright white. The trim and columns were cream before being painted white to match the body color. Report was really comprehensive and included magnified pictures of all the chips, with each layer noted (looking like tree rings). She gives the Munsell and CIE ratings, but luckily also a close matches to commercial house colors; unfortunately paint companies tend to change the names and formulations every couple years so those colors are probably no longer made but I have the ratings and the commercial sample swatches she provided to match to.

    In all the colors were similar to the Longfellow house in Cambridge. I wondered if it was possible that that house could have been the original inspiration for the colors chosen for our house. Longfellow house looks like this:

    That's a lovely color. Very rich. I grew up in Bedford, MA. There's an old house in the center that's the same color.
