You are absolutely right, I intend to do the same, the virus could be around for years.

@clutteredcloset49 No hurt feelings, we're aware of the juxtaposition of the two styles. In fact, it fits well with our house - a 105 year old farmhouse with a 1960's kitchen sitting in the midst of a development full of double wide mobile homes.

And as an antique dealer you'd be happy to know that the tin panels fit in a frame that fits just like the original glass and can easily be replaced and returned to original. And we appreciate the perspective of folks who know what they're talking about. My husband and I are just winging it.

    As I said
    That is what is important.

Ahh, nice to know. See I said your husband was an accomplished wood worker. Good job on his part.

The auction house has set up an online scheduler for appointments to come in for previews. They are going to do the same for pickups. So now we have a 15 minute slot to go in and look at anything we are interested in. Fortunately the only items I'm watching are the china cabinet and an Aladdin Lincoln drape.

The china cabinet ended up going for $305 here in NE North Carolina. There was a good amount of activity on the last day, we got out quite a while ago.

Well, to bad you didn't win, that's the whole thing for collectors, many more losses than wins but, it does make the wins sweeter. NEXT TIME!

I'd have pulled out before 300$ too! You did fine.

Did you get the Aladdin lamp?

@clutteredcloset49 We dropped out on the lamp also. It was the font only and the bidding got to the point where it'd be to expensive to source all the pieces parts needed to complete it. If we had a bunch of spare Aladdin parts laying around it may have been a different story...

I think it looks kitschy. As it happens, I love kitsch, but for me to own that would be something of a magnificent embarrassment.

@clutteredcloset49 Yes, another reason we dropped out of the bidding. We weren't able to get to the preview to see up close, but looking at the angle of the filler I thought there was a good chance it was original. Willing to take just a little gamble but not much.
