    Hello antique friends!
I just picked up this chest of drawers at an antique mall here in the Denver area.
I know it has been refinished but I'm just curious as to age and origin.
    48" tall x 36" wide.

Looks hand built by the dovetails unless there is shrinkage.

    Hi,
I think the handles are replacements. I think they were originally just wooden knobs.

Think about 1910. Machine dovetails and the hardware could be original .... or not. Notation on back is probably for a polished mahogany finish. Looks like birch with a stain.

With that crazy grain I was wondering if someone pulled the veneer off and refinished the underwood but from the drawer top edge it looks like there still is veneer.

I'm pretty certain there is no veneer; the fronts of the drawers are all one solid piece of wood.

Thanks Brad; do you think this is American made?

I thought solid too but, if you look at the drawer at the second level from the top, there seems to be veneer missing..... or am I seeing something different? This is likely American. It is a bit unusual for something like this to not be real mahohany veneer on the drawer fronts but anything is possible. If they are solid, it is entirely possible that the veneer has been stripped and the drawers sanded and refinished. What does the top look like?

I see what you're talking about, on the front of the second drawer, IMG_0377.JPG IMG_0378.JPG IMG_0379.JPG IMG_0381.JPG IMG_0382.JPG

but it seems to just be a bit of the wood is chipped off.
First photo is looking down along the top of the second drawer.
    Inside front of same drawer
Top, along the side edge of the top, finally the back edge of the top.
The top also appears to be a solid piece. Also the grain on the inside of the drawers looks similar, just not stained.
I'll take a couple more pics::

Norge, I don't know anything about it, but I think it's lovely! (Had I room, I'd certainly have it in my home!)

Top is solid, as appears the rest. I just thought I saw a veneer chip in the one photo. Usually, when veneer has been stripped off, the wood underneath is not as good as this appears.
