Finally a break in the day activities with time to study the bottle labels. The bottle he is the holding us Seagram's VO Canadian Whiskey. The label is like the following:

    http://www.cooperedtot.com/2013/12/seagrams-vo-canadian-blended-rye-whisky.html

The square bottle to the left has a square/rectangle label with a white circle in the middle. The name in the circle has 5 letters starting K, R, X,... The other letters may?? be inner, issen, isken, ...
Obviously I have no idea what it is.

Square one looks like Kinsey or Kenney? And the one in back and to the left looks like Bellows. Never heard of either one myself.

I now think the square one has a hyphen like Kes-??, Ken-??, Kex-et, Ken-ex, ...

HI, I've been out of commission for a while but now back to add my unwelcome ideas. :p

That's not a commercial "bar." It's a temporary one as commonly used for such as New Year's eve.

His ears really do stick out but are not cauliflower ears. C ears are those crumpled up and very close to the head.

Yeah, I'd agree with 1940's. But what is that under his coat and scarf? A sweater?

OldGuy, you may very well be right about that! It's certainly not very attractive... Of course, it could be at a fraternal club or something like that, too.

I agree and more than likely it is some Irish guy sending a photo over to the family back home here in Ireland to say he landed a job :) no pubs in NY would need to have a New York pendant or what district it was on the counter, so I agree it is either a studio shot or actually the guys home bar, maybe 1950's. As for his clothing men here in Ireland wore clothes like that right up to the late 60's/70's. Nice shot but if it was a pub I would say it it would possibly be the most miserable Pub in the world :) big sour face on him.
