Info on Alfred Golder

Hi,
I have an antique chaise lounge type sofa with the name Alfred Golder on the bottom. I can’t find this persons name anywhere on the internet and was wondering if anyone knew anything about him.

That's what I would call a daybed, rather than a sofa or chaise lounge. And it appears to have been home made or modified. The tag on the bottom was attached by an owner (made with the use of one of those handheld press things. (I know there was a name for them, but I can't think of it right now.)

Has nothing to do with a commercial furniture maker.

That's weird that it lifts up like that. Is there room to store sheets or blankets?
Looks like it is cedar lined.

 

The more I look at it the more I tend to agree with bakers. Maybe they took twin headboards and attached them to a hide a bed frame. Giving who ever made it an extra guest bed.

 

And a picture or 2 of the way the upright pieces were attached to the legs and "base."

 

Think you've all got it sussed. It looks like a mid-20th century custom job, with matching headboards attached to form a day bed, then upholstered to match. Technically a one-of-a-kind, so difficult to value. I suspect, however, that it would be minimal.

I found an Alfred Golder who was a specialist in slavic history. Does not appear to be related. I also checked on Alfred Colder and found nothing.

 

Did you purchase this? or was it handed down?
Can you tell us where it might have been purchased originally?

Thanks so much for the replies! You have all been very helpful. It was given to my father from a friend and has been in storage for a while. I don’t how old it is or where it originated. The cedar storage on the bottom is 6” so it would be big enough just for one or two blankets. Thanks again for all of the info!
