image.jpg Mmm, looks alike but the inclusions in mine are smaller and more dense.

Could be. Mine appears to be scratch resistant to knife blade so definitely not black jet.

Just for fun.......check to see if thy are magnetic. Are they heavy? could they be some form of iron ore? Outside of that I'm sticking with Picasso Jasper.

Squirrel! Ornery little things. Causing havoc all over the neighborhood, chewing cable and screwing up our internet and TV. Re-carving pumpkins on the porch, LOL. I had one sitting out on the deck with me this afternoon, on the railing, just staring at me.:chicken::watching:

Is that carved bone or ivory or stone?

After looking around more last night, I think you should check out Apache Gold stone. I found two different descriptions of composition:

Apache Gold. It is bright and shiny gold Chalcopyrite in a black Schist

    or
Natural Apache Gold steatite and pyrite
You can probably figure out the magnetic or not and the hardness properties.

He's a cutie. They're something I generally call "random pretty rock" and leave it at that. The squirrel is Chinese in origin almost for certain, and the beads probably are too. A real mineral junkie might know. Picasso jasper they're not.

I think the Apache Gold is very likely to be.
The pendant is Asian, Chinese probably, the clasp is Chinese fish hook style.
Is this type of stone found in Arizona only?

I don't know about that for sure. I did look around a little while and can only find it coming from mines in AZ.

It's always possible the beader person bought supplies from all over the world by mail order or at gem shows.
