Please excuse the irreverence, but... perhaps a prototype for this year's hottest holiday toys: HATCHIMALS!

If you don't have much money into it and don't care should it not look so good afterwards. I say go for it. You can always repaint it.

I have found good pieces that people no longer liked and then painted for what ever project.

I have 10 bucks in it. what about the pottery bowl without the paint, the shape, style, age, country. It is very light and thin look to me like it was hand molded. at least, at the rim

Nice, it's got a great shape, definitely. If it doesn't look like there's varnish on it, try soaking it in hot water and some dish soap to try to get the paint off. I did that once and had a nice surprise. I bought a large footed bowl/comport with a pretty Art Nouveau design for a couple dollars at a yard sale years ago. It was painted completely in white paint with that awful gold 'antiquing' everyone did in the 80s. It looked like plain old latex paint, so I thought I'd soak it and see what happened. After about an hour, the paint started lifting off and I scrubbed it a bit. This amazingly beautiful thing emerged, and when I saw the Amphora marks underneath (they were hidden under thick paint), I flipped. You never know :)

Yep, found a Roseville vase under a layer of thick gold paint.

So did you take the paint off?
    Find anything good?

It looks like what you'd call a wheel thrown altered rim vase or an altered pot. Is it as thin and delicate as it looks in the pics? It could be high fired, vitreous porcelain. Does it make a nice bell sound if you tap it with a fingernail?

I'm excited to see what's under there if the finish soaks of.
