Interesting. You've got mistletoe on one side and I suspect Persephone on the other. Possibly referencing the legend that she went into the Underworld for part of the year.

That sure does look like mistletoe and the flowers in the hair of the woman does look like Persephone. When I saw the mistletoe, my first thought was the Norse goddess Frigga. Mistletoe is one of her symbols. Her son, Balder (god of the summer sun) was killed by an mistletoe arrow tip. Frigga's tears turned the mistletoe berries white and restored Balder.

"He was finally restored by Frigga, the goddess and his mother. It is said the tears she shed for her son turned into the pearly white berries on the mistletoe plant and in her joy Frigga kissed everyone who passed beneath the tree on which it grew. The story ends with a decree that who should ever stand under the humble mistletoe, no harm should befall them, only a kiss, a token of love."

With this pendant not screaming Nordic to me, I'm going with Persephone.

Is anything printed around the rim of the medallion? Strangley enough, here in France, people would assume it was an image of Marianne.
