Someone needs to tell them that Hanau is not in Austria, and David Letterman isn't dead yet. I'm not gonna, but I could spend all day correcting their faux pas.

The pictures would not work at all, but an interesting article, as usual quick and accurate research. :)

Tried that, it went into a page with one picture and no way out. Probably a Flash Player problem but I've not noticed it eleswhere.

    No matter.

Back in my heavy buying days, I had my finger on the mouse, ready to snipe a tea set - Kutch. Somewhere in the $90. range. My computer hiccupped and I missed it by one second. :arghh:

In the three years since this thread I have managed to get hold of two more tea cups for my collection. 5 looks more like a collection than something someone has left lying around so now they adorn a shelf in the hall and get polished now and then.
Lord, was this all three years ago?

Maybe this is a stupid question, but how the hell do you drink tea out of silver cups??

In the few times I've actually tried to drink tea out of a metal cup, I almost invariably scalded my lips on the brim.

I have a Victorian silver beaker which I keep on my desk which is now my dedicated drinking vessel.

It's great for water, great for cold tea...but I wouldn't try drinking anything HOT out of it! Yeouch!!

I never thought of it as difficult - I've been drinking tea from silver cups since a tadpole and from silver demi-tasse cups since I've been in long pants............and nary a slurp with either...............well, one slurp when I was still in the nursery, but the feel of the hot tea in my lap when Nanny slapped the cup from my hands cured me of THAT before it became a habit...........

and it IS difficult to think that this thread is three years old...............and I can imagine your collection has acquired some nice additions in the past three years, AF..............
