Huh -- kinda like naughtly postcards, only in fabric. Would a guy actually wear one? (Just when you think you've seen everything... ;) )

I don't think they are all that old as there is a 40 or 50 year spread in picture styles.

    Hi,
I have seen a few, sewn into ties and hats. Your's are much larger in size than the ones I have seen. For the most part the ties have had hand painted "beauties" on them. When I was in the Navy back when, it was common to have the inside cuffs on the "Middies" sewn with embroidery some of it risque. It was less painful than a tatoo. However when I crossed the Equator it was mandtory to have your ear pierced.

    Hi Silver,
The ear closed up a few years back, like 30. lol However once in a while I will glue a flat back rhinestone to my ear just to shock people. In the 70s I did wear a small
zigzag lightning bolt in my left ear.

I once ran across a racy sketchbook with sketches like this all done at the same time in the mid 1940's. The artist had obviously copied from pin-ups like Petty and naughty comics from the 1930s that had been handed down.

Producers of novelty and risque items often used unpaid or underpaid artists.

These look like yarn dyed (jacquard) rather than screen printing, which is unusual at this size. But even at the larger size, I could see them sewn under a sailors neck flap, or inside a peacoat. I have a small collection of embroidery cut from under the collar and cuffs of WWII navy uniforms, like topless ladies or topless mermaids.
