Hi all,

Someone found this pic in a local shopping center and posted it on social media as she wants to get it to its rightful owner. I'm pretty sure someone on here can date it and give some clues based on the uniform and the look of the photo. That'd be a start. Thanks !

 

As a guess, it might date from 1950s-1960s?

When you say they found it, was it something they purchased, or was it just found lying around?

 

Well, isn't he handsome! I'd think date above correct.

Found loose in a shopping cart

 

Some people on Facebook are saying they don't think it's from The United States. It reminds me slightly of my grandfather's old WWII Army pic. Is it a military uniform or a police officer's?

 

Could be Caribbean. What does it say on his epaulets? What does the badge on his hat look like?

The emblem on the hat is topped with a crown. I agree with Debora that it may be a Caribbean island tied to the UK.

 

I found a lot of similar uniforms from the police at that time period mentioned. The only difference being he does not have a badge on.

Like this man...but he has the number on his hat badge, also....

It does look like there is a crown on the top of that badge.

 

From the pictures I've looked at, Antigua and Barbuda police seem closest, but the emblem does have some differences, but that may be the evolution of the design over time.

You might want to contact local churches that have a largely Caribbean congregation.

Was that in a HUGE mall or a Small mall.....could someone copy it LARGE and post in a "Lost & Found" somewhere there???? Or was the shopping cart in a grocery store maybe?? Post it on doors?? Just brainstorming here........

 

Nice looking guy, would be nice to find the owner....took the liberty to clean the photo up a bit.....not perfect, but better.....and that "design" across his shirt is not actually part of the picture some how....it could be cleaned off too!!! Oops, and I didn't get his smile quite right I see!! Ah well, after supper.....All fixed....below I added what at least the one (his RIGHT shoulder) partially says.....but don't think it's enough to figure anything out......

 

Yes, "shopping cart in a grocery store." That's all I know about it as I simply saw it on a friend of a friend's post. Thanks for everyone's efforts.

 

I watch Death in Paradise and I immediately thought it has to be one of the Caribbean islands. I think the name tag going across instead of with the shoulder epaulet must be unique
