    I was going to guess an Apache Tear, until I scrolled down to the pictures over the light. Now I don't know what to think! :joyful:

    Obsidian is still a possibility; some of it is brown, and since it's a volcanic glass it could be translucent like that.

    It could be brown opal too, for that matter. Some opals, i.e. potch opals, don't have much if any color play and they come in all sorts of colors. It probably isn't worth enough as a stone to worry about it overmuch.
