    Hi,
    My grandma gave me this old cross that is very likely made of silver. It looks like it belongs on a necklace. She also told me that it's around 100 years old but she is not sure. Could someone please tell me what it is and how much it could me worth? Thanks in advance!:) 20200321_110059.jpg

    Perhaps it is silver plated and inexpensively stamped out?
    Is that a little iron oxide (rust) along the edges?

    The back if simple, no details.

    I would say definitely hand done decoration - and not particularly carefully, I might add. Similar work to a "boy choir badge" that belonged to a great grandfather of mine who was born about 1870. Made in the US and marked by the silversmith.

    Welcome, Teodorof Flavius. Where are you and your grandmother? Sometime marks appear on the ring.

    Is that a "C" in the center of the design?

    The hole shows a lot of wear,it could be a hundred years old.Poorly engraved, maybe with a screwdriver and a nail.It is worth what ever you think as a keepsake from your grandmother or around $8 scrap.

    Could be a trade silver cross...

    If you mean fur trade silver, they were made by professionals and the Iroquois silversmiths of the 19th century would done a better job with the engraving.

    @Any Jewelry
    I find sometimes if I get rid of all the extra stuff after .com, .org or whatever, it will take me to the home page where I can search.

    It won't hurt it to polish it. I'd love to see it cleaned up.

    But you don't know where the OP's cross was made or when. Hard to say something is fur trade era without information.

    No, it's easy to say.....
    but...
    you're right......I'm just speculating , from the look of the item , and handling others that were similar.

    It's better to find them with Montreal...or HB, or Cruicshank..(sic) hammered into them.......but I'm told even those were later reproduced....

    But it doesn't look like a toaster !
