Just a reminder that I am amendable to offers on anything in my Bonanza booth - though most of the "old stuff" probably won't be listed until after the holidays............

Oh, dear. I managed to avoid the Sell thread until now. Must not look. Must not look. I didn't think my Christmas decorations had turned into a mania until I had the boys bring down all the bins at once and we couldn't walk though the dining room. Not that I need Dorothy's red slippers on my tree, but...you know. Sigh.

Of course you did. LOL. I don't have any generic ornaments on my tree. I have some that my kids made - those wonderful glitter covered pasta creations - that must go up first. When we travel, we buy an ornament. Some have been gifts. I do have some older ones that were in my family. I may have to take a closer look at Manson's Bonanza booth. I'm sure one or two more wouldn't make the bins any heavier.

my neighbor...now moved...had boxes of ornaments...handed down year after year ....and added new ones that were gifted every year.
I was amazed at how her grown children retraced their childhood by following the ornaments back in time to their birth...
Last year.....I could hardly see if in fact there was a tree underneath all those baubles ...!!!!
( I still can't figure out where she made room for the lights ! :wacky:..)

When he commented on a new chair or something, I'd tell my husband I found it in the attic (a huge, crammed-full space with cathedral ceilings that could be a whole house for someone) but he wised up years ago.

Mansons, how are you liking Bonanza? I've been on there since it was 'Bonanzle' and it's been dismal, despite my promoting left & right, at least in the beginning before I got discouraged. I had one sale in 2011 and the next one wasn't until 2014 and that's it. I had a lot of listings, but keep removing them as they sold elsewhere, and now have only 8 items. I'd like to keep the shop, as I like the site overall, but don't know how to get it rolling.

I too have had a booth since it was Bonanzle. I have not done any promoting at all, ever. It was very slow for me as well, and then about a year ago I started getting "spurts" of buyers, for items I had listed just after Lincoln's Funeral. I started paying more attention and it turns out that they "turn on" their advertising Broadcasting feature once in a while for those who don't normally use it.

As a lark, I upped my level to Standard with a 13% Maximum fee. It has increased views and sales threefold, and I seldom actually pay more than 3-10% in fees (the fee is based on what method the buyer used to find your item as well as some other algorithm, not always 13%). I also went back in and added as many Item Specifics as I could, including searching out UPC Codes for a number of items (sometimes I located the codes on Amazon or eBay). I also monitor my Feed Diagnostics (something a site as large as eBay should make it easy to do!!!), and surprisingly 98% of my listings now appear on Google Shopping - even vintage/antique/used items. One of my favorite pastimes these days is "Google Shopping" to see how my items appear. I have come to terms with the reality that many people who shop on their phones/tablets now use the Google Shopping app in place of Google basic to get more targeted results. I just have to remember that research is NOT shopping. Many of my buyers sign up they day the make a purchase which tells me that they didn't find my items on Bonanza, but via another method.

According to my Booth Stats, 90% of my views and sales come from Google Shopping, including Used items such as Waterford, etc.

I am not a premier member and I don't subscribe to ANY of the paid options - YET. I am considering them though.

Also note, they have something called rewards - tokens - that you earn for different things, but there is also a daily allowance of 10 tokens for the taking. You can redeem 500 tokens for a $1.00 off your statement, which may not sound like a lot, but given the low fees, and the tokens, on my last statement for sales of over $400, it cost me $3.21......quite a bit less than that OTHER selling site, neh? And I recently earned 5,000 tokens for answering a survey - that's equivalent to a $10 discount on fees.

I am still exploring Bonanza and I am learning a lot about it and its benefits, and its sometimes convoluted functioning, but the best I have gotten from it is a BUNCH less stress than that provided by eBay. Way less monitoring and interference. No hammers held over your head, etc., though in reality you can be booted off for not meeting standards, which are not much different than eBay's. I feel the major difference is that they just tell you what's up and don't hound you. And while they have a Feedback system reminiscent of eBay's old system, it is largely ignored. I "have" 8 feedback for my 60 sales.

As a matter of fact, judging by what I am hearing from my clients regarding the lackluster sales on eBay this season, I am thinking of offering my services to Bonanza sellers INSTEAD of eBay sellers when I am more conversant with the social media aspect of Bonanza. I personally think eBay is headed to the dumper for SOME sellers (but I think it will not get much worse for antique or OOAK sellers). The mega sellers and Chinese sellers are killing the small seller in certain categories.

There are some negative aspects of the site - the first being that they have banned ALL social interaction on the boards there. Strictly business, no kvetching. There is something else that prompted this paragraph, but it eludes me at the moment..........sorry.

On the upside, support is unbelievable - getting a REPLY e-mail to your inquiry within 24 hours? UNHEARD OF!!! And your issue is not "closed" until you say it is.

So I'm not cleaning up and I won't be relocating to the Riviera anytime soon, but it is small time respectable. And I foresee a brighter future in this arena.

I think it's maybe because I haven't gone with the webstore yet. They didn't have that when I started and I just forget about it usually. I was on eBid also, and that was doing pretty well in the beginning, but died too. I am set up for Google Shopping on Bonanza, and got an "SEO Superstar" (lol) badge a while back. I should give it s go again. I agree about the support being on top of things; I've contacted them a few times and they were great. I joined "Artyah!" and it's very good too. Vintage/antiques and handmade only, and while they're relatively new (about a year and 1/2 old), the site looks to be something big in the future, as long as they can stick it out. Thanks! :)
