I got a silver filigree brooch today, quite large. On the back is a plaque that says DH900. I have had jewellery in the past with the DH900 mark, but for the life of me I cannot remember the origin. Anyone help?

900 could well be the silver fineness. Portugal is one good possibility, and Turkey is another. Seeing the brooch itself would help.

I wrote oa reply but was not logged in, so I do not know if it will appear. I am leaning towards Turkish. Sorry I can't post a pic. I have no camera and my mobile phone is 13 years old. I am still living in the past. We collect ethnic jewellery and at the weekend bought 2 North African silver bangles and a necklace also, although that would not place the brooch. We put it all into a big tin and occasionally pore over the contents.

I'm just a jewelry junkie in general. My addictions are crazy copper, and anything broken I can rework into something else. Try checking these and see if anything jumps at you : http://www.925-1000.com/foreign_marks.html The Turks do use 900 silver.
