Any idea when this Dupont lighter was made? Is it silver or some other metal?

Mine is like that but the smaller variety.
Silver plated ..to 20 microns...if I'm not mistaken.

The serial number should give you an approximate date

Lovely lighter! There are a bevy of S.T Dupont lighter fakes out there. It seems the only true way to tell if one is a fake is the look of the Serial numbers. The numbers should not be aligned. Each number is hand stamped separately. Somewhere I read that if one calls Dupont and give them the serial number, they will tell you if it is real or fake. No one seems to know of an online site of Dupont serial numbers for dating purposes. From what I can see of your serial numbers, they don't look perfectly align and definitely not evenly spaced - the real deal.

"The only true way to know that I'm aware of is this: The serial number on a real Dupont lighter is hand stamped, number by number and so the numbers will not be perfectly aligned. That is, each number will be slightly out of line with the others (or at least some of them will be). Most fakes are machine made and so the numbers/letters are perfectly spaced and aligned as if done by machine."

Here a little something on trying to determine the age of one:

Here is a website with collections of S.T. Dupont lighters. The list of collections are on the left. At first I thought yours might similar to the "Diamond Drop 2005" collection. This collection is a reproduction of:

"The lighters and pens display a fusion of classical shapes from the 1950's with modern jewelry patterns of the 21st Century."

Do you think yours is similar to this collection? If so it may date from the 1950s.

Lady, thanks for the informative links. Based on the info you provided, I also believe this is the real deal. Also, from what I have read, the fuel filter cap inside is always painted on authentic lighters and the fakes rarely have this feature. Right now, it doesn't light but there probably isn't any fuel in it. Gonna have it checked out!

KK0265 is from 1952-55. Gas piston release when opened. D57 model pre ligne 1. Very nice example. Well done! Lid can be adjusted be tightening the screw inside 1/4 turn.

@Sarahlou For help with your lighter, please start your own thread with lots of pictures. This thread started over 5 years ago..No one will even attempt to answer your questions with the only information you provided being "the same one".

    I don't understand.....
if u sent this to Dupont.......they can tell you the age and model.....and both have already been identified right here as well...;)
For a fair market value , look online for any web site selling this lighter...or/and eBay sold listings to see if any have sold recently...
    I'd guess $150 to $ 200......but that's a guess done with no research !!!!
