Vintage Silver filigree Inlay - Possible Sewing Accessory?

    Hello, I was hoping someone here could help me identify this piece of jewelry/sewing accessory? It currently resides as part of a thimble collection which was put together by a family member who is no longer with us. We would like to know what it is exactly if anyone here can recognize it.

    Chinese fingernail guard brooch - though often described as 'converted antiques', believe most were created as brooches...

    I see that it's marked "Silver", but the mark is in English. Makes me think made for export.

    If you go on Ebay with the search words, "Chinese fingernail brooch" there are 12 different ones currently on auction if you want to see others. Yours seems to have some genuine age, so compare to the ones that are older. Very pretty.
