I've had this triangular accent / side table for over 10 years. It came from my aunt's house after she passed, so I don't know anything about it. Any idea how old it might be? And is there a correct term for a piece this shape? I checked underneath and didn't see any markings.

About 1880 or so. Style is late renaissance revival (sort of transitional into the Eastlake style). Looks to be oak. Triangular shape is unusual abut I don't think there is a special name for them. I would consider this a parlor table or lamp table.

I would call it a corner table.

I'd call it a corner table too. The style isn't desirable at the moment, but who knows. One good HBO series set in the Victorian era and off we go again.

Yeah, I wonder if it's worth anything? I'm pretty partial to it, but I just moved and don't really have a great spot for it. It's currently serving as a temporary place for my TV until my new console arrives.

Since it doesn't have a right angle to fit into a corner, would you still consider this a corner table?

Good point- one edge must sit flush against a flat wall.

Hmmm - you're right equilateral triangle hadn't realized that.

Maybe it came from a house with 60 degree corners. Those Victorians had some odd ideas. Look at the Winchester Mystery House.

They also put half-rounds on rooms in Queen Anne style homes, probably because they could. They probably made a triangular table for the same reason.
