    Close, but no cigar ;)

    Purchase price ok
    No damage to marble
    Dial in nice order
No damage to spelter figures, each after Auguste Moreau
Movement works and it is Japy Freres (second photo taken with bell removed)
BTW, names were given to wind up AF :)
    Key and pendulum bob present
Strikes on the half hour and hours (synchronised as well)

But when I put on the bob it stops :(

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Too bad, rhiwfield! It's attractive, though. Maybe AF can help. ;) If he even reads this thread...

Since Halloween, thought I'd post one of my luckier recent finds. 1960's Marx. Only partially working, already sold "As Is". ($475) aanew.jpg aaside.jpg

Lucille you made me think of something I sold earlier this month that folks may want to be on the watch out for when they are out hunting.

This was sold at Michael's back about 10 years ago, so definitely not old. Mine worked as far as the lights & the music, but had been repaired in multiple locations of the building & most of the monsters had damage that I did not see in its entirety when I bought it. I did well on it because I got it cheap.

Here are others that sold recently.

Mansons2005 Nasty by Nature, Curmudgeon by Choice

A Nice Surprise - any guesses on the age of this Jewellery

I tossed this nasty looking box in that "box under the basement stairs" a few YEARS ago after shaking it and not hearing any "rattles". It is in really bad, non-repairable condition.

This morning I opened it and carefully wrapped in tissue were the contents pictured. Most appear to be silver, marked Mexico, one way or the other. All of the earrings are clip-on. The largest, plain bracelet is unexpectedly light weight, possibly crafted from "hollow tube" stock?

As I start to research these pieces further I will ask for opinions on each piece, but to get me started, would you agree that this is circa 1950's?

    How does it stop?

Does it tick a bit then peter out, not tick at all, run busily with the pendulum off? Is it in beat? Is it wound up?
It can be something as obscure as the pendulum rod rubbing on the back of the crutch if the crutch is bent outwards slightly.

I'd say 60's, but without seeing the marks that's a WAG...

Without the pendulum bob it runs quickly but it ran irregularly and intermittently.

Putting on the pendulum bob the maximum time it ran was five minutes.

It is fully wound, I wondered whether it might be too wound up, that is why I wanted to let it run for a while.

Clocks cannot be too wound up. This is only possible with people.

Sounds as if it may be out of beat. Is the tick perfectly regular or like someone walking along with one foot in the gutter.

You could let it run down some more with no pendulum. This has the effect of allowing the old gummed up oil that might be there to be massaged into something more like slippery. This reduces general friction.

Reducing power loss in the train may be enough to make the difference between keeping running and stopping.

No, not regular. I will see if it will run down without the pendulum.

    Cheers af!

Crudest way to make the tick regular, prop up one side or the other of the clock till it is in beat.
More elegant suggestion if that works.

Just a few things to show. All thrift store finds.

Picked up one of those metal organizer boxes with all the little plastic drawers for $6.00. Bonus .... it was full of plastic jewelry hobby beads. Thousands of them in 45 little drawers. Over 6 pounds of beads that I will sell as a lot. I won't get rich but will get my organizer I need for free and make a little profit.

Picked up these large Tonala pots for $12.00. The largest one is 12" tall. The other is signed R. Mateos. Possibly Rodrigo Mateos but, if so, it is not the kind of work he does these days.

This brass box is acid etched and inked. The top and bottom are slightly magnetic so probably reinforced with steel under the brass. The sides are not magnetic. Pretty large at 9 1/4" x 6 1/4" and velvet lined. Has pretty good age to it. Bought for $1.50.

The imagery is odd. The top has medieval knights at battle in each corner and the maiden on horseback. The sides have pirates in the medallions with the same knights as found on the top in the smaller diamonds. There are two different pirate medallions. The front and back have the pirate with gun and a ship in the background. The sides have a maiden on board ship with pirates fighting with knives in the background.

Have had this pottery cream and sugar set before but forget who made them. Color is a pale turquoise. Will post on PGP. Bought for $1.00.

    stuff1254.jpg

Syracuse China restaurant ware in the Jubilee pattern. Small bread and butter plates. Bought the pair for a $1.00.

Just wanted to say... fun finds all and congrats on the sale! Thanks for sharing the info regarding more modern 'Heller-ween' (Madea) collectibles. I've tried to steer some sellers to the bay and encourage them to list things beyond just vintage, but for some it isn't always comfortable to move beyond what we know. I sometimes forget to look closely at the some of these types of Halloween items myself, so I appreciate the share.

Early?-19th century british engraving of Victor Moreau in a period frame. The background (bathroom radiator) is not where it's going to be placed, btw!
