I am sorry that I didn't receive any notifications of additional replies to my post, so belated thanks for the kind comments and suggestions for places to which I can donate it. I will investigate them all.

Johnnycb09, I, too, was riveted by the story of the Immortal 600--and that is what I absolutely love about my--and your--finds. I learn so much history from these things.

I went picking yesterday. Here are some of my finds. I will be putting most in my store. A few will go on ebay.

Seth Thomas movement in an Insto Products clock. Is it automotive? The red thing is a manual turn signal that attaches to the wind shield frame of the car. I don't know what that tool is next to the little box of metal letters.

McCoy pot, Fireking mugs, advertising magnifying glass, sterling watch fob/chain with two sterling baseballs dated 1939, gambling tokens, fish and game member buttons, propellor for a model plane, WWII medal, straight razor, etc..

    IMG_2779.JPG

Two watchmaker's anvils, some old iron brackets, brass advertising propellor letter opener, mazda light tin.

I got a lot more - drawer pulls, car manuals, Janis Joplin concert poster, etc., but haven't bothered to take pictures yet.

They're working - I gave them each 3 turns yesterday and they are both still ticking.

Very odd clock pieces. Not in themselves, but in what they might have been used for. They just bolt onto something with the bracket at the back? I wonder why both are missing hands. I wonder what Instow made? How about a look at the backs of the cases?

The key is from a French carriage clock and has nothing to do with the movements even if it fits.

Here's Janis. I'm keeping this for myself. I'll put it upstairs in the one clean room of the house with my Necco Wafer shipping box.

I had the pleasure of seeing Janis at a nighttime concert at the Newport Folk Festival in the late 60s. It was outdoors, and we were all standing on rickety folding wooden chairs and everyone was totally into the music. One of those wild and crazy memories...

I think "Insto Products" is the Insto Products Company with office at 1241 High, Oakland, CA. That company was connected to or AKA Instograph, Ltd. The company is listed in several Oakland, CA, City Directories of the 1920s. The president was G.H. Derrick. There are several patents listing this G.H. Derrick as the inventor. Some of the patents seem to be dealing with electronics like electric switches with the patents saying the original assignee Instograph, Ltd of Oakland. I found that the Port Commissioners of Oakland purchased a Instograph Recording Machine in 1931. I'm not surprised that Insto was electronic connected because the symbol of the lightening bolt across their name on the dial is used by many electric related entities. Didn't Con Ed once have a lightening bolt character as a trademark or was that the Reddy Kilowatt character??

    One of the patents:

One of the Oakland City Directories of the 1920s showing the listing as:
"Insto Products Co. G H Derrick pres mfrs agts 1241 High"
Left column, 5th entry up from the bottom:

1925 Oakland, .... City Directory, a good 3/4ths of the way down the page:
"Insto Products Co G H Derrick pres rafrs acts 1241 Hiph"

Somed classy digging there, Susan. I was thinking at first of night watchman's clocks, but some rather simple timers for time locks seems possible, especially as one appears to have a gear wheel on the back where the hand setter should be (unless it is the hand setter.)

Susan - I too had decided that it was probably Insto Products of Oakland but I didn't find the patents or the other information. Thank you so much. I am going to look for the wooden cabinet they might of sat in when I go back to the place. The guy who originally owned the place repaired watches and clocks as a hobby. There are some other weird clocks there - proto-type time clocks the great grand niece was telling me.

Oh, and Af, the minute hand has been broken off of one, and the hour hand off of the other.

Look out for watchmaker's tools while you are there. I don't think you'd find any wooden case that might have for those movements.
