Bracelet set -- a few questions

Also from this sale I wrote about in the D&E post. Wondered about maker, and another question. It has something I've never seen and questioning if this was an add-on. There is a safety chain, but you can't remove it. It looks original possibly, but makes it somewhat hard to put the bracelet on. This was on the $8 table, but then I found the matching clip earrings ($3) on the earring table. One small rhinestone missing on the bracelet, I hadn't seen that but probably would have picked up the set anyway. It is a huge piece, very chunky. I think the stones are plastic, not sure.

What do you think about that safety chain? Have you seen that on other pieces. Will post other pieces possibly tomorrow, for now heading out...

(Edit -- no idea why photos posted twice. Sorry about that.)

Some current Barbara Bixby and Judith Ripka bracelets have "non-detachable" safety chains, and the safety chains sold/made by Pandora to be added to their bracelets are not detachable either.

I've a fair few older costume bracelets with fixed safety chains.

You can always make it openable by adding a spring ring clasp :)

Try the tooth tap test to see if the stones are glass or plastic. Tap one on your front tooth, have a piece of plastic and piece of glass handy to test against, you will feel the difference.

If they are glass I would assume the bracelet is very heavy and would need the safety chain!

I know this is no help, sigh...but just wanted to say I think it's so pretty.:)

Am I seeing inclusions in the purple stones? If so I'm thinking they may be low grade amethyst. The dark stones could be Jet or obsidian.

    Sorry to just be responding...

I think these are plastic -- kind of like the jelly belly material on pins or similar. I could probably market it as a "Jelly Belly" bracelet. That might bring in the big $$$, lol! They just feel warmer than glass and a little softer so thinking plastic.

Thanks to alll for taking a look.

As far as quality, it isn't the best, but it isn't the worst either. I have to think its older (50's?) what with the matching clip earrings, but who knows. Could be 80's I suppose. It is a large piece for a large wrist, too. But I find that non-detachable safety chain to be a nuisance. But now thinking it is probably original since others have seen that.

It is just a bit unlike anything I've seen before (which might argue for it being more like 80's ... not impossible. There were things at this sale from that decade too, for sure.) If anyone has ever found similar, let me know. Thanks!

This may be Selro, probably from the 60's. I'd look in that direction.

Calico, thank you so much! Those earrings are a match.

I just quickly scanned Selro pieces on Ebay. Many look like the same construction, will follow that excellent lead! :)

Thanks, Marie. I won't list as Jelly Belly. Was just saying the stones are kind of like that here on this site, but good point. Ebay has rules, etc. and don't want anything pulled.

The link that Calico listed has me thinking this might be Selro as it had the exact earrings but in a different color set were shown. Still researching it.

    Thanks!

You're welcome. The construction first made me think 'Selro'. There is a Selro Facebook page where you can ask it to be verified.
