This time I'm showing a pair of earrings. They are made of silver and inlaid wood. I don't know what this style is called, but it's very common in vintage Spanish jewelry.
They were probably made during the 70's, do you agree?

    Thanks for the opinions!!!

Why do you think they're from Spain?

I would have said 1980s. Late 70s might be a possibility.

    Hello,
Maybe 80s is more correct, I'm not completly sure.
I said made in Spain because many of this kind of items was produced in Barcelona during this period. The items have the sterling silver spanish mark (star or pentagram) adopted in 1934 and until the early 80s.

Are you in Spain, Jal? Are your earrings marked with a star or pentagram?

No, I don’t, because I asked how this style is called, and I read yesterday that pentagram mark is only from Spain (1934-1980), I didn’t know it before, and I’m not completely sure of it. Moreover I asked for other informations which can be interesting, maybe someone have more information.

Ah... What the style is called. I would call those "button" earrings. Vintage 1980s sterling silver button earrings with vertical bands of dark wood inlaid and with a French clip closure. The kind of thing that would have been sold at El Corte Ingles. There was a lot of inlaid jewelry during that period. Here is what seminal American fine jewelry designer Angela Cummings was doing, for instance, with a greater design sensibility and finer materials.

    Hi,
Thank you for calling this item Button Earrings, but I was asking about the general style of jewelry for those years or period, when inlays of wood, bone, malachite were used ...
I have searched some information from Angela Cummings, I did not know her work. Good reference of the time.

    Thank you!!

No, he was asking for the age.

And yes it would have been nice if the mark had been shown.
    Next time maybe.

Inlays of wood, bone, malachite and other materials have been used during many periods. It wouldn't be possible to generalize about a style.
