The other day, I got a call from a good friend who was at a house at the invitation of a friend of his ex :)rolleyes:), who was supposed to be cleaning it out. She said he had 4 hours to take anything he wanted out of there, so he went, and when he got there, called me to come over. Yes, I went - it was in the middle of nowhere, with just 3 of us there.
So I got a couple of pieces of cut glass, which I know nothing about. The patterns all look so similar to me. I also got some sterling - still left over after months of her being in there, plus an estate sale, whatever, geesh),
This vase is 9 1/2" tall, 7" across the top, and the pedestal is 6" across. It looks kind of awkward, but the glass/crystal is beautiful. Can anyone tell me anything about it?

Yes it is American Brilliant Cut
I am terrible with the patterns.

If you want to go through catalogs there are some here.
Or they have a Facebook page if you are on Facebook.

There are almost always dings, I'm sure you are aware of the one on the base, correct?

I am now - I didn't notice it until I posted the pictures here.
This, after mollycoddling it, putting a washcloth in the bottom of the sink to wash it, putting it in the closed off living room so the cats wouldn't get it, admiring it multiple times - I never saw it!!!!!

It's minor, and on the base, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Instead of 95, it's now 65. At least in my store that's how it would be.

This was one of the better glass cutting houses.
Lots of detail, lots of intricate cuts, even on the base.
    It's very pretty.

It IS a very nice piece of ABCG ! PS-the shape is a bit unusual . When I get a minute , I will look thru my books, but I am really not good with patterns anymore.

Thank you for your kind support and comments everyone.

Cluttered - thanks for saying you'd still sell it, just for less. Should I dare put it on ebay, or wait until I open my store again?

I have another one to show you all - I was going to ask if it was worth selling, because I knew it had a chip before I took pictures :D. It's 12" tall, 5" across the top, and one of the teeth on the rim is chipped.

I would sell it, but not for as much.
This style/shape was made by several companies. Has nice cutting, but not as much as the first vase you showed.
How bad is the chip? Some are minor, some are really bad.

I can't advise as to whether ebay would be a better venue or not. I haven't sold on ebay since 2007.

Haha, you never know about cats, they might haul it off and sell it for 100% profit!

One cat in particular just can not stand to share any surface he may be sitting on with inanimate objects. He doesn't swat them off, he just nudges them off slowly but surely one by one.

@Bookahtoo Did you look this vase over carefully for a siggy? (I'm sure you have) but I circled an area that looks like it "could" be one, but may just be scratches too. Sometimes siggys on these can be notoriously hard to see. They may be across cuts, faded or just worn. Just thought I'd point that area out just in case.

And then when you rush out from the bedroom to see what happened, he just sits there and stares at you curiously. For years I didn't suspect him - thought it was one of the bratty ones who ran away when I came in.

Bdigger - I did look, but the bottom is very scratched. I'll see if I can find my loupe tomorrow and look again.

    @Bookahtoo
Selling cut glass on Ebay is not the best avenue. Besides low prices....Hard packing and expensive shipping !
PS--still planning on going through my books...just did not get to it yet ! And now I have 2 to look up !!!
