I've had this in my curio cabinet for the past year and I have yet to find the artist. The signature says JR or JB Thompson. The detail is excellent and it has series limit of 100, but every time I search I find nothing. Any help at pinning down this artist is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Joe

    It looks to me like J R D - - - - -????

Interesting that "Canvassback" is spelled that way instead of "canvasback"

The signature looks as if it ends in 'yson' and I think I see a D as well

It looks like a 'lost wax' casting.

I agree with Afantiques -- it does look like it ends in could end in "yson" or it might be a "pson" as you thought, mr.2real.

I think the second letter of the last name may be a "w" or a "u."

It looks like "J R Thompson" to me. I also couldn't find anything googling, which surprised me since it looks so well made.

I searched for a while on this yesterday. How's about a close up of the signature?:cat: My eyes are seeing several different things.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I am seeing [?] R. Thompson. The first letter could be a J, but I'm not positive about that.

Thanks for the replies everyone and sorry for the delayed response. I'm convinced the artist name is JR Thompson. I just can't find diddly squat when researching. Here are some more pics of the signature, which is proving very hard to capture.

Well, what you have is a nicely modelled and cast bronze duck. It's not really antique but like most antiques there is no known maker, so the thing just has to sell on the merits it has, not on some 'brand name', a curse that afflicts antiques selling carried over from the modern 'branded' culture.

You just decide what you want for it and hang a label on it, or you have it around your home, just as decorative as if you had watched the maker make it, no more and no less.

Just saw your post. We have the same one that is 4/100 but it does not say canvassback. I was also looking to see if it had any value.
