Have a feeling this is not American. Glaze is kind of finely curdled/flowing with some micro-crystalline properties where it separates. Body is thinner than most American pottery. About 5" tall. Number looks like 28-C or 28-0. There may be more but it is too faint to make out. You can actually see it better in the photo than in life. Any ideas? Maybe English?

Probably isn't, but makes me think of Pfaltzgraff.

Very nice! I don't have any clue on what it is but I like it. Looks like a good quality piece.

I'm wondering if it's West German.

Thanks for the thoughts. I tend to think of West German pottery as being more substantial than this. This is less than 1/4" thick at the rim and pretty light for pottery. The guy I bought it from didn't have a clue. I had a pitcher with a very similar form that was English so my thoughts went there. The glaze makes me think Dutch. How the bottom is crafted and clay color makes me think Japanese. I don't see any of this as definitive so it may remain a mystery.

Looks like writing after the C......almost like Cairo........just a WAG......but definitely some sort of writing....
