Toddler vs Hummel Figurines

Hmm. I did look at the broken off Hummel head auctions on eBay. It seems if you put "altered art" + Hummel and/or "doll head" in your title, they'll sell like hot cakes to the crafters and artists.

There are couple of sellers from Germany selling hand over fist Hummel heads by the hundreds.

I remember back in the 1970s in Manhattan there was a small storefront. The guy who owned it would buy broken Hummels and turn them into really weird stuff. He would repaint them to look nude or decorate them with glitter and feathers and of course leather accoutrements.

Actually it was a woman who did the Barb & Ken thing. If I remember right her first name was Doris.

That 2 yr old must be STRONG for his age! To snap the heads off so cleanly is almost unbelievable. And the photo is genius.

I learned something new today. I did not know that there were crafters looking for hummel heads and other body parts. But now that I think of it, a small smile is coming to my face. Now I want to see some of their creations.

 

I have to agree with Book, I would watch that child carefully as this behavior strikes me as being not quite right.

I see many odd (weird, scary,freaky) altered art dolls and art pieces on Etsy so I guess there is a market for this.
Always learning stuff here.
