Capodimonte Pedestal Donated To RSPCA, any info really appreciated

Hi,

I received the following as a donation to the RSPCA and want to sell it to raise funds for our local animal centre, I don't think its of significant value but all money I raise is always greatly appreciated. If anyone has any information on this item please could you post it,

There's no such thing as real Capodimonte since, oh, the early part of the last century. Many Italian pottery makers got on the bandwagon. Having said that, it's a decent decorative thing and as the mark says, it has some age. I'd imagine Ms McDonald bought it in Italy in the 60s or so. That number looks like a pattern mark. Try 25 quid and see how it goes.

 

G.H. McDonald was a retailer. There are other pottery items from Italy with the same mark.

That makes sense. Must have been a US one, though, which is interesting.
