    Hi,

I have recently purchased a property with a fireplace / cooker in the living room. I believe it used to have a boiler attached to it for the heating of the house but that has been removed.

Can someone tell me what it is and what's it worth please. Pic attached.

    I think it's really neat !
    BUT...
you'll have to tell us where it's located & if you can find any markings on it...& how old the house is.....for us to get a starting point !

So the house was built in the 1930's in Lancashire. Can't find any markings on it......yet.

We Yanks have few if any of those about, so we're no help with values I'm afraid. It's pretty sweet though. Was it coal-fired?

That's cool I myself wouldn't rip it out ,if I was you I go to a salvage yard and ask them to come around and have a look ,

To be honest I won't expect thousands because obviously such feature at one time was a part of every house hold ,

In a matter of fact often the surroundings can be worth more money then the harbour especially if there tiled by a well known designer ,

Oh and its very art Deco In Design what fits in with the year of the house is it in a bedroom or one of the reception areas ,

Don't think its the main lounge is it like I said its a nice feature to the house so would leave it there also in the feature if you decide to sell the house it could add vaule to the house and be a selling point ,

No my advice is let it stay where it is ,it would be a shame to take so much character away from the house ,

I'm with Charlie. Leave it in place.

    I concur..
    BUT....
    It's not my house
    I'm not 31
& it has such a presence that it may clash horribly with what Adam has in mind for the decor.

It's a beautiful piece. If you can get it restored and fixed, you could keep it in the fireplace, or perhaps sell it. I'm sure someone doing a period restoration would love something like this!!
