My Sir Percival Peach, who was one of the best cats ever (though one of his nicknames was 'S*** for Brains'), was also a sock thief who talked as he dragged them around, and memorably dragged out a bra for his first meeting with my now ex. He also displayed, ummm, dominance issues with sweaters, throws, and the dog's Build-a-Bear 'bar-slut bunny', whose vocabulary included, "What's your name?/I love you!/Will you take me home?" (Syd the Aussie later tore out her tiny stuffed heart). It was, as suggested, both disturbing and hilarious - had to keep the bunny in a closet, only brought out occasionally...

The new finds thread is slowly sinking into a voyeurs thread with us all enjoying the salacious posts about randy animals.

 

Hehe, at risk of lowering the thread even further, will say it's really more a dominance or stress issue than sexual - my alpha-bitch Preshy will sometimes mount, usually only an issue if she chooses a timid/submissive dog, often a female, but so long as the other dog doesn't allow it, it turns to play. After her recent 4-hour grooming, took her to the dog-park to run off some tension, she promptly targeted a passive male Beagle/Basset cross who is a regular victim of 'humpers' - at one point it became really weird as Presh was on another dog who was on the 'Bagle Hound'. The first time she did it, soon after she was adopted, had to pull her off, and she had what can only be described as a 'temper tantrum', rolling around, yiping and snapping - now she stops on command, but continues trying.

My Vet and I both feel it's probably related to her life as a breeder in large kennel, having to find her place among the other breeding dogs, both male and female - but my childhood Chihuahua regularly humped my male Sheltie's head. Neither were fixed, he was impotent and she had no interest in other boys, despite my father's efforts to put Lad out to stud, and to have Tammy bred (both were gorgeous dogs with excellent bloodlines). After my Chihuahua, that I'd raised since her birth, was sold without my knowledge, my father gave me a female Sheltie (really bought her to breed), we'd raised Boxers and Chihuahuas, but in a weird twist that finally stopped his dog-breeding sidelines, Cricket proved barren, sadly suffering false pregnancies, complete with swollen belly and milk-production...

Stuck online shopping due to an increasingly erratic public and work schedule. Despite the lockdowns in S.A., our mission continues to operate if a somewhat diminished capacity. If anything our hours are increasing as is the stress while we all try to figure out what to do and how to do it.

Anyway: A small figa charm

Screw-back rolled gold earrings. They looked like coral in the seller photographs and I am happy to report they are.

More costume pieces. I love egg pendants

Sterling chain & small clover/ladybug charm in enamel. The design in the chain is charmingly done across the length of it. No marks.

Sterling cuff bracelet

10k gold ring. Amethyst and wee teeny diamond chips.

This was my favorite find. Angel skin coral cameo a little smaller than a dime. The bezel has some very faded marks I cannot read but it tested positive for 12k. I like lavaliers but most I find are $100+ However this one was for $20 including the shipping.

Maybe check with @Bronwen on this, a lot of cameos are listed as angel skin coral but are not. This one looks suspect to my not-expert eyes

 

Have not posted to this thread for quite awhile due to lack of time. Now that the store is closed and I am home, figured I would post a few things. Some of these, I'll post additional pics for identification in other threads. All items are from the thrifts unless stated otherwise. Some of the pics are not the best so apologies in advance.

This oil pastel is by Ohio artist, Crossan Hays Curry. Quite large and a good buy at $15.00.

These Roycroft bookends were only $1.99. Found tucked in facing backwards with a bunch of office type stuff.

This set of kitchen shakers was $4.00.


This Universal pottery Calico Fruit coffee/tea pot was also $4.00 the same day.


Bought this arts and crafts letter opener from one of the booths in our shop for $8.00. Unfortunately, unmarked.

This carved shell match holder souvenir has a patent date label on the bottom for 1899. Bought during half price sale at our estate sale for 50 cents.





This soapstone vase was purchased with a bag of about 20 small animal figurines and other small items for a lot price of $5.00.


I purchased this factory painting for $10.00 for the frame. Not too bad so will probably reframe to sell at some point.

 

Here goes round 2. As before, from the thrifts unless stated otherwise.

This watercolor painting is dated 1906. Signed D. Alexander. Have not researched the artist as of yet. Bought for $4.00.


This Yixing teapot was $3.00. Found the stand a few days later priced separately but they just gave it to me when I told them it went to the teapot I had purchased.

This Japanese chicken carrying eggs salt and pepper shakers was $4.00. Tail is split to hold napkins, I believe.



This 60s or so painting has an illegible signature. Will post to art. Bought for $3.00.


This art glass geode dish was $15.00 from another dealer in our shop. Unmarked but seems better than the modern imports. Will post to pgp.

This framed limited edition print appears to be signed Been. I have not been able to attribute it to anyone. Bought for $5.00.




Bought two Russian lacquer boxes. The larger one has a bit of damage and was $2.00. The smaller one was 69 cents. Will start a separate thread for possible ID.


This little Japanese Pierrot dish was $10.00 at our estate sale.


This Craftsman copper match box holder was $10.00 from one of our dealers.


This plastic box was 1.00.

This wood chain is signed and dated 1963. Bought for $1.00.

Another carved shell with my Zodiac sign. Bought for $2.00.


This Bradley and Hubbard stamp box was $1.00.




This sterling lidded jar was $2.00.


This wire shoe was $1.00. Unsure about age on this one.

Bought this hand textured print for the frame. Paid $8.00. Shot the pic at just the right angle to show how the texture bears no relation to what a real painting would look like.

 

The cowry shells were acid-etched rather than carved...
