    Hi guys the measurement is

    width 8 1/2 inches

    Length 15 inches ,

    It seemed to inlaid with veneers

    It's soft wood ,

    Images are still pretty fuzzy, but the grain-lines in the wood continue from one colored section to another (most clear to my eye in the seaweed), indicating it is one piece of wood, not marquetry. Still looks like early 20th century pyrography to me - basswood was typical...

    I had the owner of the antiques place I'm in have a look at them it was him that said it was veneered he been in the trade 40yrs and said it not pryography he also said the outer was mahogany and the lighter parts was Elm and Ash I think I ran my fingers over it and it felt a bit raised in some areas, Also if you look at the damage one I put a picture up you can see it is very thinly layer veneered

    Hope this picture makes it a bit clearer it looks to me some of the veneer has peeled of and you can defentley see a darker wood under

    Whatever way it's been done think it be hard to deny whoever did this must be a professional artists
