What to do with this? The frame is in really good condition, but who the heck wants one of these any more?

I have an unframed one hanging in my B&M. People notice it and talk about it. Some people have told me they collect them. Haven't sold mine, probably because it is not framed.

I washed mine in the washing machine, and the colors came out beautifully.
I used the gentle cycle, cold water with a little borax dissolved in the water first, no soap.
Hung it to dry, then a cool iron on the back side.

I had nothing to loose. Mine came from a filthy, smoke smelling estate. It was yellow and reeked.

I don't have a four foot wide space to hang the bleeding thing. Well, that's not true. I just realized I could hang it over the bed. (cue lightbulb over head)

Try to get it as clean as possible before hanging it over your bed and I'm sure you already know that, but I made that mistake once before long ago. lol

Dang it all, they GLUED the tapestry to a board. Don't see how I'm going to clean it successfully.

    It's fabric.
    It can get wet.
Lay a damp towel on one corner for a while, or overnight. It may loosen the glue. In which case you can work at removing it from the board.

Another alternative would be a heat gun. Hairdryer may not be hot enough, but you could try that

Or you could just vacuum it and hang it.

    Love this edit button.
As I'm thinking about it. If the tapestry is dirty and the damp towel does not loosen the glue, when it dries there may be a ring where the towel was.

You might not want to do that.
    Wait for other comments.

Is it glued all throughout the back or just around the edges?

What kind of board did they use? Wooden? Cardboard?

Wooden board. I think it's only glued in the back. I am asking myself why I take on these projects. It's not like I have nothing else to do.

    Hi Bev,
I would soak the dang thing in the bathtub for an hour, board and all. Then you could try cleaning it, the glue should be gone by then. When clean and dry back it with ¼" foamboard and reframe. What do you mean you do not have 2 hours to do this most important project?:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I wonder if steam cleaning would work to both clean it and loosen the glue enough to remove it from the backing?

I've never steam cleaned anything, so it's just conjecture on my part!
