Stone face

    Anybody any idea where this is from ? Heavy hand cut stone face . And age maybe . Thanks

    How big?

    Power tool gouges on back date it to 20th/21st. C. sometime. You call it a "hand-cut"... but since power tools were used on the back, you can rest assured they were used on the front as well.

    It could also be a castable stone substitute, then the grooved marks on the back may have been left by a scraping tool used to remove excess unhardened material.

    If you hold it than you see its not moulded so it is a piece off folk art from probably Africa I think

    I take it that you don't want us to know the size? To what do you attribute the striations on the back?

    The striations are interesting and I've guessed at their possible origin but would like to hear other opinions.
