I could read it if it was larger and with better contrast. The only bit I can read says Master Drawings abroad page 333

Think it says "Abrams page 333." Abrams being the publisher of art books.

    Jim Kelly
    Master Copy
    Drawing II, Mr. Morgan
    Master Drawings
    Abrams Page 333

I'm thinking the first word might be "Tom" and not "Jim"

    But who knows LOL

    I'm seeing

    "Joan Kelly
    Master Copy
    Drawing II, Mr. Morgan
    Master Drawings
    Abrams page 333"

All in the same handwriting, top 3 lines in black ink, and last 2 lines in blue ink. I agree with Debora with the Abrams being a publisher of Art books. Master Drawings may be the book title. Here is an art book published by Abrams called Master Drawings Rediscovered.

An earlier book published by him was probably titled Master Drawings.

Edit: I really think the Kelly may be the name of the woman. At first thougth Jim, but the first name looks like 4 letters.

    Susan,

After looking at it again, I think you hit the nail on the head with "Joan"

Thanks a bunch. Forgot to say, it's pastels on paper.
So, Joan Kelly would be the artist who made the copy or the original artist?

Rather than being another book published by Abrams it may be that book because a goodly portion of the book's content is of impressionist art in the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg. It is of the art the Soviets took out of Germany at the end of WWII. No doubt the Nazis stole it first from France of some other country they subjugated. The picture of the woman may be impressionist art?

say_it_slowly The worst prison is a closed heart

My first impression is that the notation might refer to an art class, perhaps a college type drawing course level 2, with Mr Morgan as the teacher.

I agree that this is probably a school project by that person, for that teacher, copied from that book. Like Mansons, I think Mary Cassatt is the first place to look for the original.

Here is a 1994 New York Times article annoucing the forthcoming exhibit at the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg. The exhibit was of French Impressionist and post impressionist paintings taken out of Germany by the USSR after WWII that the rest of the world thought were lost and probably destroyed. The USSR had kept their existance a top state secret. The article mentions Mary Cassatt in relation to another painter, but doesn't say whether any of her paintings are there. It also says Harry Abrams was publishing the catalog for the exhibit.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

If somebody could find a copy of the book that Susan identified, questions may be answered.
