  1. I know it's old, but I cant find markings or signatures or anything to figure out what it's even made of. Any help is appreciated

Can we see a pic of the bottom ? It looks like it "might" be jadeite , and its exquisitely carved . I first thought it might be soapstone. Or resin . Is that a break on the stem of the cob ?

Sorry, I know it's not what you're looking for, but I thought what are the odds that I could locate a stone carving of children wresting with a giant pumpkin?? :joyful:

I think yours is one of the stones referred to as Jade.
Found on Pinterest no real info given.

That one is an agate, hardstone carving. Very hard to scratch.

The OP's with whitish scratches usually appear on a softer stone, soapstone-ish

Is this a story/lore or something? Children of the corn? Jin and the giant pumpkin?

Id say soapstone now too. But the workmanship is undeniable .

It is beautiful, Paige. It looks like Shoushan stone to me, which is a specific type of agalmatolite. Agalmatolite is often called soapstone, but Shoushan stone is only found in Fujian province, China. It is collectible.
