Glass beaded basket

    Any ideas about country of origin please? 5 inches radius, 4 inches high.
    Makes a little bit of a noise if shaken but I doubt it's for musical use.

    Id guess African with those bead colors,but thats a guess.

    I agree, Lombok, Indonesia. That little round "hole" in the center of the start is a key identifying feature of these baskets.

    Indonesia is a main exporter of baskets that are frequently misidentified as Native American Indian. There are some recent ones, fully beaded, that are usually sold on eBay as "Paiute Indian."

    Thanks very much everyone, I hadn't come across anything like it before. Googling beaded basket wasn't coming up with anything similar.

    Sometimes one has to google "Lombok basket."
    But one has to already suspect what it is, in order to do that; and even then, one is likely to be overwhelmed by the thousands of types of baskets made there.
    That is certainly true!
