This interesting piece came in today. It was done by well known artist Alvaro De la Cruz (3rd pic shows sig). There is a field above the signature that ends in "99", I wonder if anyone knows if that is a date code he uses? The piece measures about 23 inches high. Thanks! ... Dave

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

I don't have time to search right now, but... I believe several family members (de la Cruz) do these Catrinas in Mexico. I can't quite see the "Alvaro". For those who don't know, Catrina is the female "emcee" of the Day. I'll try to look around more later.

Hi GG! Yes, it is Alvaro - my research suggested his son was doing similar work, and I think his wife as well. So far, I haven't found another example of his sig on the web anyplace. ... Dave

I do not want that in my bedroom.

Please sell it quickly to someone on the left side of U.S.A. :mask:

Unfortunately I no longer have access to my records, but I handled a collection of de la Cruz pieces a number of years ago. I never allow the "shipping fear" to interfere with my decisions to handle anything, but I will NEVER handle these again.........I was up nights wagering with myself regarding the number of pieces that each could shatter into...........

Mexicans love this stuff, but are afraid of upside-down brooms. Go figure.

One would assume that they would only be IF the man were UNDER the bed............

Antidiem... I have heard that hats on beds are risky, yes, but it's not a huge deal. Also hats worn indoors worry some Gringos but we are okay with it so that guys can wear their cowboy hatS or sombreros, especially while dancing. They can't wear those long pointy toed cowboy boots without a hat. They'd look silly.
