Hornsea Heirloom Blue. Slightly less common than the brown or green. Designed by John Clappison. I use Bronte and Heirloom Brown every day.

 

Found this at a thrift store this week. It is painted on a panel with the gesso coating incised with the design. About 3' square. Unfortunately unsigned and could possibly be a commercial product. Had to do some minor restoration but could not pass it up for $7.00.



Bought some other art that same day but don't have it photographed as of yet. I will make sure to show it later.

 

Went to an honest to god estate sale this morning - advertised as "High End" and they weren't kidding. Unfortunately all I could find to buy were 2 Land's End fleece shirts. Wanted to buy an LE barn jacket, but didn't want to pay $15 for it. The shirts were only $5 each. I might go back tomorrow if they discount 50% like that outfit often does.

On a better note, I was rolling coins to take to the bank - found I had a 1940 "wheat penny" and a 1945 nickel, both in darned good shape! It's a good thing I noticed!

 

Some fun finds last week, and both sold quickly which is always nice!

Thanks, Cx. They are by Abelardo Ruiz. Papier mache, made in Mexico probably 1960's or 70's. You can find different ones on Ebay if you search that name. Maybe 10 or so currently. They are candle holders, not that I would ever recommend using them as such.

I had sold papier mache pieces signed by "Sermel" before (more common) and they have a similar look, so picked these up because they seemed more finely painted and once home was happy to learn they had a following.

 

Art nouveau.....style.....?

 

Picked this one up last week from a town wide garage sale. For 5 bucks. Nobody saw any interest in it and it had been sitting out all morning. It's a plaster relief by Eli Harvey signed and dated 1903. I think it's great.

 

I think it is great as well. I sometimes find it amazing what other folks disregard. Some of my best finds have come late in the day at sales.

I made wall sculptures like that in the 70s.

 

I like Amber too.......but just in one color...
