There is so much damage on the piece I'm afraid to strip it down.
Even if antique, in that condition worhtless I guess.

But there are cracks and chips. That's why it was painted, to keep it together.

Started cleaning, it will take a bit of time. Can't tell if old or repro. The damages are glued on the inside.

Almost done with the cleaning. Somehow it does not have the feel of 19th glass but I could be wrong.

    Hi,
I wish Skeetix was here. It looks very similar to the South Jersey
Lily Pad pattern. If it is even with the damage it would be worth something. I paid 1 grand for one back in the 1980s.

I'll take better pics of the base when I'm done with the cleaning. It has good scratches on the contact points. I'll have to research a bit more on the lilipad patterns. I know there are different types. The maker is also of importance but I guess an expert will have to take a look for proper attribution.

After all the soaking and cleaning the glue ( or whatever it was) has soften and the front broken piece is coming off. The good thing is that it can be removed so a better cleaning can be done on that area inside.
I wonder if I should try to superglue/epoxy it back or seek professional help? First I will have to find if this is an early 1800's example or not. If old, what would be the value with all the repairs.

[IMG] I found a picture in one of my Clevenger references and its a match with one called "lily pad pitcher" and is 10" high. It came in six colors with an original price of 3 dollars. This was featured in a catalog of replicas of early American glass sold by Ritter-Carlton Company Inc in October of 1939 and no mention was made of a manufacturer other than " two elderly men "

I know that Clevenger made replicas( maybe other companies as well?) that is why I have to figure if this one is a repro or not.
I'll try to find what Clevenger bases look like.
