Just a few things to show and nothing too great. All are thrift store finds.

A few things I am not showing since they went directly to the store are some glass sets. The first is a wheel cut glass set that included pitcher, cocktail, shaker and 26 glasses. Bought for $17.00. The second is a set of 10 wine stems wheel cut with a grape pattern. These seem to do well on ebay so I priced them a bit higher. Bought for $5.00. The third was a set of 8 goblets bought for $4.00. I was not able to identify them but they are very similar to the Fostoria pine pattern but with twisted stems. Last was a set of 10 double shot glasses (or maybe a small juice glass) with an art deco stepped bottom that I was , again, unable to identify. Bought for $5.00.

Here is an unusual MCM file cabinet. Probably paid a bit too much at $25.00 but you just never see these. I didn't take the pics so not to my standards and it is kind of hard to tell what you are seeing here. The drawers have a flanged molding that serves as the handles. I painted the recess behind them, the top, and the feet for accents and also to cover some problems with the top.

Picked up this Van Briggle 13" seashell in their moonglow glaze for $1.25.

This Christopher Radko Halloween ornament was 50 cents.

These 12" diameter industrial holophane type shades were $3.00 each.

There are shells and then there are shells. The Van Briggle ones are the ones sought after a bit and size does matter. I priced this one $36.00 in my store. It is newer and the moonglow glaze is not the most popular. Older ones and some other glazes can go up quite a bit from there .....

it could be , how can one tell the difference ? i have been examining it for uniformity and it doesn't seem to have that , almost no 2 alike does that mean anything , on a machine it should be perfect uniformity stitches i m o

    Machine Made Rugs

Machinemade rugs are made by large machines called power looms. A power loom is electrically automated and controlled by computers. Machine made rugs can be made quickly and are manufactured with materials including wool and synthetic fibers such as polypropylene, nylon, polyester, acrylic and art silk.

Machine made rugs can offer a lower price alternative to hand knotted rugs. Machine made rugs usually have a life span between 5 to 20 years, depending on the quality and fiber used. For example a high quality machine made wool rug can last for decades if it is well maintained. Machine made rugs are generally not of any value to a collector.

Back of a machine made rug. Note the uniformity of the stitching which is done by a machine.

These rugs are cheaper imitation of handknotted rug and cost much less. A handknotted quality 8′ x 10′ hand knotted rug might take anywhere from 7 to 14 months, while the same size rug made in a machine-made method might take one day.

Although machine-made rugs can be just as beautiful as hand knotted rugs, they typically are not of value to a rug collector or someone who is looking to buy an Oriental rug as an investment.
