Possibly Inuit Sterling & ? Pendant

Hi,
I have this pendant that I suspect is Inuit from the scratch marks on the back. I'm trying to figure out the silver mark but no success. To me the mark looks like a body/figure - hoping someone will know this. The scratch marks are an Inuit artist, still unknown but I'm looking.
The pendant is 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" - silver on some sort of stone rather than glass.
Any information is appreciated.

The scratches look more like Cree than Inuit.

 

the letters spell......Sa Mi ...or Sammie or just Sam....in Inuit.
But this is no Inuit art that I'm accustomed to.

I think Sammie owned it rather than made it !

Sa Mi is what I came up with too but couldn't find anything like this piece. I believe you are very knowledgeable about Inuit (and other) art when you see it, and agree that Sammie probably owned this one
I'll keep looking for the sterling mark.

 

I agree it doesn't look like typical Inuit. The syllabics would be Sa Mi in Cree also, I think.

How interesting. I've a pendant with the same construction, but different makrs. Silver bird overlaid on stone in a silver frame. Chain is marked VNS STG and the pendant is P STERLING J . Wonder if mine is Cree...
