I acquired a glass piece made by Baccarat. My first impression was that it was used as a display piece for Baccarat. I would interested in hearing any information or comments about the piece, thank you!

Are there any other marks on the glass other than the one shown? Anyone could get a chunk of glass & hand paint the word Baccarat on the side.

No other markings. But for what it's worth, I believe this is a legitimate piece. I have other pieces (made by baccarat), this is the only "curious" one.

That sure does look like a cullet, not cut in any way.

Ditto what Peggy said. It would be difficult to verify this unless, hopefully there are others like it documented somewhere.

Poking around the internet for a few minutes only brought up examples of dealer signs identical to the one komokwa posted.

It's mysterious. But anything is possible. If there's info out there, someone on our crew might be able to dig it up. :bookworm::peeking:

I'm quite the fan of Baccarat crystal, and I have quite a lot of it... I've never seen anything like your "chunk", however!

Is it smooth? Are there rough edges anywhere?

Yes it was used in a cabinet with Baccarat glass.
I was in the china dept of a major store in the early 1990s. It is exactly like what was in the cabinet with their display.

    I would call it a Manufacturer's display

I vote for manufacturer's display or advertising store display.

That is highly debatable, but thank you.
