Sounds to me like the root of the problem was/is jealousy, envy and hate based.

You have some folks who would rather defend the wrong information given by DeepSeaShadow in regards to a shiny object, than to defend the right of a human who was slandered and threatened by other community board members.

How does a "community" allow such hatred towards other community members and expect to evolve into a top-tier go to information based community in respects to antiques and fine art?

Nuff....I was the Black Sheep over on the AB...maybe I still am over here???.....

....anyway the Ab caused a lot of hateful,berating,snarky,and cruel posts and the list goes on.The "trolls" were the bane to my existance when ever I was there and I verbally fought back...reason for my ban. I know I upset a lot of boardies over there too.At times I felt ganged up on but hurt feelings makes one want to defend themselves.

Over here its like a whole new world...yes at times a bit of the "old days" pops in but all in all, I feel like I can breath and not have my guard up like I had over there, also no SLAPS.

I grew some armour too so now I am able to let stuff roll of my back. If someone does not like me,OH WELL,its their loss,I am kina nice.

Terry, those are the types of things I would pass over because I don't know what it is, but I assume it must be worth some money. I'll have to look it up and educate myself in case I ever see something like this. I sometimes come across those tubes that were used in radios but never bother because I'm not sure if they would still work or not.

 

Even if they don't work you can still play with them

 

I find it very unfortunate that anyone should be attacked and have to defend themselves for what they do. The board will be poorer for this kind of attitude in whatever form it manifests itself

Brad, good to see you back posting within this thread. You always purchased some interesting pieces.

These were $21 ($5 for the figures, $1 for the vase and $15 for the watch).

Figures and vase are Chinese porcelain, dating to the late-19th/early-20th C.

The watch is mid-20th C. if I'm not mistaken, Swiss made, Ernest Borel, gold-filled cocktail piece.

 

I suppose you could describe the watch as 'timeless'.

Seriously, without hands it's parts box material and even with them not worth all that much.

Well , that one escaped me and my rheumy old eyes.

Novelty watches do have a collector following, shame it's a lady's watch as these are not very popular with the almost exclusively male collectors.
