It is gorgeous, K. Looks like modern brilliant cut to me, which would fit in with the date. So not old cut, but cut in such a way to show the stone to its best advantage.

Gorgeous! I think I can see open culets in there, which would make these stones OEC. (Old European cut)
If you could get a straight on shot, we could be sure.
Diamonds go round and round, and old cuts were getting recycled into other mountings in later years.

Haha, just need the right project for them! They are joining the "In Case Of" box:joyful:

For the tester, yes, Selector II:D, I'm not willing to pay for a serious one:facepalm: Not a big matter if it may happen to get moissanite instead of diamonds in an old piece, I don't pay much and still believe my "nose".
Of course, I was joking about the seller sending diamonds by mistake:hilarious:, even if the seller isn't a big one with huge feed back:rolleyes:

I like the rubies - no one messed with them. Diamonds aren't this girl's best friend, but that last one is really neat. How old do you think the ring is?

This is a .40 Old Mine cut. It's another pawn shop find.
It was in a modern solitaire pendant setting, and I re-set it into this design.
It's cut very chunky and deep.

  13. You all have some beautiful things. I found this little gem a while back... auction photo.

Interesting fact from the appraisal...there are 40 pearls above the sash, 40 below the sash and 40 outlining the heart. Pretty cool.

This is a .76 Old European that doesn't have the flat culet.
I wear this one almost every day.

As @kyratango has so graciously pointed out--and included a visual(thanks, Kyra!)---it's the pointy bottom of the diamond.
Most old cuts have 'em, but once in a while you find one that doesn't, as in my example above.
