My name is Sarah Allhands - I own a small thrift store in Lakewood, CO. I get a lot of antique pieces in my shop, and I don't know anything about them. I saw this board and thought It would be helpful to join a community of people who are knowledgeable of antique items. Thanks so much.

 

Hi and WELCOME Sarah!! Then you should LOVE it here!!! We also have a lot of fun while exchanging and dissecting information!!!! When posting pictures, 1MB is the size limit, 10 pics per post, and when you upload the files, the very top image lets you click to "post every image FULL SIZE"....MUST DO!! You also will find, most of the 'experts' here would like close ups, several angles, dimensions, and any other information you can provide about the object in question.....that should get you off to a great start!!! Have fun learning.....which is something we all still do!!!!

Thanks! It's been quite an adventure for sure! I've been open almost a year now, and I'm still just breaking even. I have a lot more customers though, and I've been selling more on eBay to help offset the days when I don't have customers, and that is helping. I've tried advertising in different ways - from putting ads on social media, selling things from offer up, let go & Craigslist (which helps bring people in and then they buy more stuff), to printing coupons on the backs of grocery store receipts. (That was expensive and not worth the money). Now I am trying a gig with the local news station. They offer a program for small businesses. They will put my ad on their website, social media sites, build a landing page for me, create a commercial, and it's all track able and they guarantee 30 actions per month. So I'm excited about this plan!
