Any idea what these odd shaped utensils are used for? English made and EPNS. I don't think the pastry knife and other serving utensil go with the other items. Thanks!

Saw those before. They were called "Sugar Shovel Spoons" - don't know if that means they were used for sugar or if that was just what they were called/

They would be great for mashed potatoes & gravy!

Agree with Baker, we need to know the length. I have a couple of shovel salt spoons that are hardly 3" long. If longer then possibly individual sugar or ice cream shovel spoons.

Note the US quarter. They are just over 1" wide at the business end and 5-1/2 to 6 inches long.

Not caddy spoons those have proper round bowls. Quite big with very short handles.

I'd think there's far too many to be sugar shovels: those usually went with one of those odd shaped sugar things that the name of HAS LEFT MY HEAD! :) And there's not enough depth to them.

I've seen similar to these for jam, but in this instance I believe the set is for ice cream or blancmange. A soft pud. I've seen boxed ones.

That other thing is for sardines. The cake slice looks far newer than the other things.

People do not eat caviar with metal implements. Horn is the usual chice, possibly plastic nowadays.

Either it's just one of those 'not done' things, or the metal implements tend to burst too many eggs.

    Hi Af,
I was always told it gave the roe a funny taste. I have several caviar servers that are made out of Mother of Pearl shells.

I think I may have found it: Look at ebay #191618633179. Looks like sugar shovel wins the day!
