I will be the first to admit that sometimes the brain is a sieve!! It just says NO to retaining certain things, and this is one of them, probably because, I think it's beautiful, but am just not in to it!!! I believe it came off of a pillow case......it's an unbroken loop, is 20" long, and that's a start for questions.......in the thread title??

    BRAINLESS TODAY.....will now post pictures!!!!

It's Crochet, Victorians put it on all kinds of things, Pillow cases, Bed spreads, Table cloths ect .

I've got a box full of it from things that have dropped to bits.

Oh!! Neat!! Two differing opinions!! Anyone want to go for tatting???:playful::playful::playful::playful::playful:
Obviously I can't tell the difference, and didn't even put Crocheting in the mix!!!! So, what do you DO with a box full of 'leftovers'?????????:confused: And this may be only as old as about 1967.....pretty sure on that....

Yes, crochet. Tatting is much "finer" work.

I have tons of both, done by my own grandmother from the 1930's thru the 1960's (i.e. not Victorian...)

p.s. My grandmother taught me how to crochet, but I never did pick up tatting. I also learned knitting, embroidery & needlepoint from her!

All mine is Victorian, I know because of the age of the linens I took them off but yes some of it is more modern.

Well, those are keepers then....for both of you!!!! So, am probably going to list this in Give Aways, but will hold of til Monday or Tuesday when everyone seems to be 'on-board'.....the only thing I think I'm seeing about that section is most listings looked pretty old..... don't people list there?????

And thank you both so much for your help!!!!

    You're welcome :)
Crochet is one of the skills I never tried, I can turn my hand to most things but not that.
Where we live a blind lady often gets on the bus and she sits with her Crochet all the way into town, Fascinating watching her.

I keep thinking I'll put some on some sheets or something but never get around to it :)

I'm a crocheter and it is definitely crochet. Done with a hook.
Tatting, which I've also dabbled with, is done with a shuttle and much finer (smaller) thread.

I have crocheted pieces like this and I've made some. My mother crocheted edgings on everything from pillowcases to washcloths.
